Maximize Your Potential By Joining A Leadership Group
Scale your work and personal lives with direct support from coaches and peers
We are all leaders, and we are all leading all of the time, regardless of role or title. As leaders, we must take responsibility for maximizing our potential and fully using our unique gifts to have a positive impact on others and on the world at large.
This is why years ago, I started facilitating monthly Leadership Groups and a yearly Leadership Week Retreat to help business owners and leaders hone their skills and grow their social and emotional intelligence.
We can’t maximize our potential without great support. These groups and events are about accepting feedback and mentorship from others. You don’t have to be a CEO or high-level executive to join; you just have to be committed to growth and development through setting, tracking, and achieving goals. Read on to learn more about Leadership Groups and how they can help you improve all areas of your life so you can make a bigger impact on the world and those you lead.
Format of Leadership Groups
Meet as a group for two hours every three weeks for one year.
Weekly check-ins and ad hoc support from group members.
Annual in-person meeting to dig deeply into goals.
Optional annual week-long retreat with other leaders.
Training and practical knowledge of the Human Developmental Model and fluency with awareness and choice.
Leadership Week Retreat takes place each January in Mexico.
Benefits of Leadership Groups
Leadership inherently comes with unique challenges, and navigating them is key. I’ve always said joining a Leadership Group is like having an advisory board for yourself. Just as all companies benefit from an advisory board, the same goes for having a support system to guide individual leaders in all areas of their personal lives. The focus is on building awareness and trust so that we can develop authentic relationships and ultimately be transformational leaders. We will emphasize social and emotional intelligence and use awareness and choice to be better and more conscious leaders. Members will be able to share positive and negative experiences with the group and get direct feedback. Often another individual has gone through a similar situation and can share valuable insights into how he/she handled it and what the result was.
Redefine success as a leader
Each member of the group declares a leadership project to be supported on. While the project may be business-focused, the group realizes that business does not happen in a vacuum. All areas of life must be supported for true success: body, self, family, relationships, work, play, society, spirituality, and life purpose. We understand that leadership is a holistic process.
Human development model
We teach and use a Human Developmental Model as we aim to take responsibility and truly author every aspect of our life. Intention—both conscious and unconscious—is an important principle that we focus on, along with awareness and choice. If you want to know your intention, look around you. You have created your current situation, consciously and unconsciously, and you are the only one who can change it.
Become a transformational leader
Leadership can be lonely and vulnerable at times, no question. As leaders, we need to be able to give to our clients, employees, families, and others around us. To do this, we must start with ourselves. We need to be in good shape and “full” in order to give to and affirm others. We need to be aware of the culture that we are creating around ourselves, both consciously and unconsciously.
To become a transformational leader, who is supported and supports those around them, we need to develop social and emotional intelligence. This intelligence starts with awareness and choice. This leadership group will support you to explore the fears and uncertainties that you face, allow you to discuss the questions and vulnerabilities that we all feel, and require you to face yourself to become a better leader and reach your aspirations.
Personal experiences from participants
While real improvement takes time and some deep work, groups are not intimidating, and our meetings are full of fun. It’s more about consistent small steps forward than large sweeping changes. When possible, we get groups together for in-person connections; I’ve hosted meals at my home in Chicago, and we’ve attended baseball games and other activities to enjoy each other’s company.
Growth can and should be fun. See what former and current Leadership Group members have to say about how the experience has impacted them and their lives.
“I’m grateful to have this group that knows me and who I can share what’s really important to me! I’m 70 years old, and I feel 50 with this group!” - Kevin
“It was an amazing week! I am still thinking about you guys and the great work that we did. I hope it is still alive and working within all of you!” - Rich
The leadership retreat led by Rich Lyons and Scott Stephens was a perfect start to my year. The week had the perfect blend of deep business work, integrating my personal leadership and mission to my business domain, fun and relaxing times with friends and other significant business leaders, as well as enjoying "free time" with the group watching games, enjoying the beach, etc. Ironically, the week felt "easier" than my normal weeks but was far more fruitful both personally and business-wise. I'm taking the experience from the week as a template to make my 2025 easy and fruitful! - Munzoor
As someone who values ROI in every aspect of life—from business to personal growth—I can confidently say that the Life Is Sales leadership group delivers beyond expectations. Whether through coaching, workshops, or CEO groups, I’m constantly investing in my development. But this group, week after week, continues to provide the highest return on investment in both my personal and professional life. Simply put, I’m incredibly grateful to have this group as a cornerstone of my journey. - Mitch
As a member of the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) and an EO forum, Strategic Coach, and various other business and life coaching (which are all helpful), I've experienced many different approaches to leadership and personal growth. Yet, nothing compares to the cost-benefit of participating in Scott and Rich's leadership group every week. For less than $100 a week, I am part of a virtual "gym" where I regularly practice vulnerability and humility with a group of seasoned leaders, bringing this practice into my daily life. The effects have been transformative. My relationships with my wife and children have flourished to a level I never thought possible, my business has seen unexpected and powerful growth, and most importantly, I've developed a deeper sense of self and purpose. I've been a fan of Jim Collins' “Good to Great” for more than 20 years, and his description of a Level 5 leader—someone who combines vulnerability and humility—has always resonated with me. Understanding this concept is one thing, but through my experience with this leadership group, I've been able to truly live it. Scott and Rich provide the perfect environment to nurture these qualities, turning theoretical understanding into real-world leadership and personal transformation. - Harish
